The Washington Demons officially secured their place atop the Southeast Conference in boys’ golf by winning the conference tournament yesterday at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Park in Fort Madison. Washington’s team score of 302 strokes was 32 better than second-place Fairfield and 62 less than third-place Fort Madison.
The Demons also sported the individual Southeast Conference champion after junior Roman Roth shot a two-under par 70, securing his fourth 18-hole tournament victory of the season. Freshmen Drew Conrad and Rajan Roth were not far behind, making the top 10 by shooting 75 and 77, respectively. Junior Teague Meyer fired an 80, while junior Luke Beenblossom posted an 83 and senior Isaac Vetter finished with an 87.
Washington finishes the regular season having not only won every conference meet, but the Demons only finished worse than first in team scoring twice. Washington will now prepare for the beginning of the postseason with Class 3A sectionals, which they will host this coming Wednesday at Washington Golf & Country Club.
