The Jefferson County Cattlemen were presented with the Agricultural Award last month at the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet. The recognition is a testament to the hard work and community involvement from the organization, which saw a revival in 2012.
Following a major agricultural crisis in the 80’s, the Jefferson County Cattlemen disbanded. For several decades, the organization ceased to exist, until it was resurrected with the help of Zoe Moritz, Dan Delaney, and Adam Ledger.
Currently, the Jefferson County Cattlemen has 58 members, with no signs of slowing down. They plan to continue their outreach throughout the summer, promoting cattle production and grilling at events like little league games, the Greater Jefferson County Fair, and the Barnyard bash.
