Some of the Keota Eagles’ burgeoning young stars in track & field shined bright Thursday at the Rick Wannamaker Invitational in Marengo. The best individual finish for any Eagle belonged to freshman Olivia Lyle, who was second in the girls’ 400-meter dash. Sophomore Kimberly Clarahan was third in the 100-meter hurdles, while freshman Kennedy Jackson took fourth in both the shot put and the discus toss.
Sophomore Izzi Chaulpa also had fourth-place finishes for the Keota girls in the 100 meters and the long jump, while freshman Emily Moeller was fourth in the 200. The Eagle girls also finished third in the sprint medley relay, while the boys were runner-up in the four-by-200-meters and the distance medley and bronze medalists in the 4-by-100 and the sprint medley. The best individual finish for the Keota boys came from freshman Luke Moeller, who was third in the 400. The Eagles return to the track later today for their final regular-season meet, the Darrell Brand Relays at Montezuma.
