The postseason has arrived for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys golf team as they host the Class 2A Sectional meet at the Kalona Golf Course Tuesday. The Hawks are 20-15 on the year after a tight 178-181 loss to Durant in their final River Valley dual of the season Monday. Mid-Prairie enters the playoffs ranked No. 24 in Class 2A according to the final poll from the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association. They have a pair of players ranked in the top 100 with Drew Schlabaugh at 69 and Warren Scarff 90. The Golden Hawks have a 355 average per 18 holes, led by Schlabaugh’s 85.

Joining the Golden Hawks today in Kalona are No. 27 Central Lee, Louisa-Muscatine, Mediapolis, Tipton, West Branch, No. 17 West Liberty and Wilton. There are a total of 17 ranked golfers in the field. The top two teams will advance to next week’s district meet in Wapello, as will the top two individual players, plus ties from non-qualifying teams. Action starts at 10a.m. and continues through the afternoon and evening in Kalona.
