For the third year in a row, the Washington Demons brought home the Southeast Conference Tournament championship in girls’ golf, finishing with a score of 341 strokes yesterday at Fairfield Golf & Country Club that was 44 better than second-place Fairfield.

Washington senior Makenna Conrad was the tournament’s individual runner-up, shooting an 11-over-par 83 for 18 holes. Fellow senior Kaylin Long also shot 83 and finished third via a tiebreaker. Freshman Adalyn Long’s first conference tournament saw her fire an 86 and take fourth overall, while senior Mallary Johnson also earned all-conference honors by finishing sixth with an 89.

Senior Haley Mitchell and junior Maci Williams each finished with a 98 for the Demons, who also tied a season-low team score for 18 holes. Washington now prepares for the postseason, which will begin this coming Wednesday at a Class 3A regional tournament in Oskaloosa.
