The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls golf team opens the postseason Friday when they host a Class 2A regional meet. It’s been a big final week of the regular season for the Hawks, winning the River Valley Conference team championship by one stroke in Muscatine while placing all six players on all-conference teams and sweeping a quad meet Tuesday at West Liberty against the Comets, West Branch and Wilton. The Golden Hawk girls are 27-6 this year and remain ranked No. 5 in the latest Class 2A poll from the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association. All six of the Hawks are ranked in the top 60 individuals in the state in 2A, led by Gabi Robertson at No.22, Madison Davidson 34th, Alexa Huber 42nd, Addison English 48th, Kylie Reinier 54th and Elliot Debler 58th. The Hawks are rated sixth in the Class 2A power rankings from varsitybound.com. They have a team average of 397 per 18-holes this year, led by Davidson, English and Reinier all at 99. Mid-Prairie was a state qualifier a season ago.

Joining the Hawks today are No. 9 Centerville, No. 71 Central Lee, No. 55 Davis County, No. 52 Louisa-Muscatine, No. 52 Mediapolis, No. 61 Van Buren and No. 69 West Liberty. Action starts at 10a.m. and continues this afternoon and evening at the Kalona Golf Course.
