When RAGBRAI rolled through Riverside back in 2018, a Star Trek Delta Shield constructed by Mike Meinders served as somewhat of a landmark.

In 2019, however, the shield seemingly disappeared, and didn’t resurface until just last year. By that time, it was in lackluster condition and in need of refurbishing. Meinders went to the Riverside City Council with hopes to renew it. After the request was turned down, he then turned to the Voyage Home Riverside History Center.

With the help of the center, along with financial assistance from the Riverside Area Community Club, the shield was sanded, repainted, and installed on the outer east wall of the Voyage Home History Center and Museum.

With Trek Fest just over one month away, the shield stands proudly in its new site, where it can live long and prosper.
