The Highland Huskies and Winfield-Mount Union Wolves have moved on to the next round of the high school girls’ golf postseason after both had top team finishes at the Class 1A Region 5C tournament Friday in New London. Along with the hosting New London Tigers, Highland and WMU had the lowest total team scores, with the Huskies finishing second overall with 413 strokes and the Wolves third with 446.

The best individual score for Highland belonged to sophomore Danika Kraus, who shot a 25-over-par 97 and finished fourth overall. Winfield-Mount Union was paced by senior Isabel Kann’s 101 in sixth place, which junior Kelsi Cerny and freshman Emerson Schultz of the Huskies tied for seventh by each shooting 105. Sophomore teammate Adeline Krotz was one stroke behind in a tie for tenth, and freshman Adisyn Prottsman fired a 107 that was good for a tie for twelfth place.

The second-best score of the day for WMU belonged to senior Alli Humphreys with a 112, while junior Afton Wilkerson also fired a 115. Senior Anna Anderson aadded a 118 for the Wolves, who now join Highland at the Region 5 finals Wednesday at Heritage Oaks Golf & Country Club in Wapello.
