The Tyson Foods plant in Columbus Junction was one of 78 plants and facilities honored this month with the Environmental Achievement Award by the North American Meat Institute.
The award recognizes a company’s dedication to continuous compliance improvement, as witnessed by the development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS). The Columbus Junction plant was categorized in Tier 3, the second highest level of environmental management.
The EMS model is designed to drive continual, measurable improvements in the environmental compliance performance of Tyson’s operations. It is also designed to minimize the environmental footprint of their operations in their communities. For more information on the awards and tier criteria, click here.
