It’s all on the line today for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls golf team when they travel to Williamsburg for their Class 2A regional final meet. The Hawks find themselves one step away from their second straight state tournament after a dominating performance to open the playoffs Friday that included a first round regional championship on their home course in Kalona. For the season, the River Valley Conference Champion Hawks, have a 32-6 overall record. They are ranked No. 5 in Class 2A according to the latest poll from the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association. All six of the Hawks are ranked in the top 60 individuals in the state in 2A, led by Robertson at No. 22, Davidson 34th, Huber 42nd, English 48th, Reinier 54th and Debler 58th. Mid-Prairie appears at No. 6 in the latest power rankings from Varistybound.com with a 389 average per 18, led by Reinier at 96. This week, The Golden Hawks talked with KCII after their first round regional win about their goals and keys to success today. Reinier said, “We just have a really good relationship with each other. I think our key today is just staying calm and having confidence will help us a lot. We went and had a practice round at Williamsburg so we know the layout of the course. We can definitely do good there.”

Davidson continued, “We’re very much on the same page. We have multiple people that can do well. When someone is having a bad day we have people to back them up.”

Robertson added, “We’re all very consistent at lower numbers than both teams. All six of us are consistently low.”

Joining Mid-Prairie today are teams and individuals from No. 32 Albia, No. 12 Centerville, No. 19 Denver, Louisa-Muscatine, Mediapolis, and No. 10 West Marshall. Action continues all day Wednesday at Stone Creek Golf Course in Williamsburg.
