The Washington Demons have put together an incredible run of girls’ soccer over the last two years. After not having a winning record prior to 2021, the Demons have won 10 matches in each of the last two seasons. But now comes the task of adding postseason success to their winning ways. Washington will look to advance as they host Mediapolis in the quarterfinals of the Class 1A Region 4 tournament, a game you can hear tonight on KCII.

Washington closed the regular season strong, winning four of its last five games to reach a record of 10-5. Freshman Angeline Anderson and juniors Giselle Marcelino and Audrey Anderson lead the Demons with seven goals scored each, while freshman goalkeeper Aleigha Medley and first-year defenders Isobel Murphy and Allie Wulf have teamed with senior defensive back Lindsay Diaz to create a stingy back line.

Washington’s run of late-season success started with a 2-1 victory over Mediapolis on April 29th, and the Demons have beaten the Bulletttes in four of their last five meetings. Washington tries to secure a date with Davenport Assumption next week by beating Mediapolis in the Class 1A Region 4 quarterfinals this evening, and you can hear all the action starting with pregame coverage at 5 o’clock on all KCII stations and streaming on KCIIradio.com.
