The Washington County Board of Supervisors discussed an Iowa DOT Pre-Construction Agreement at their meeting Tuesday. The agreement would pave fifty feet onto eight secondary roads along Highway 1 from Washington to Brighton. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius talks about the cost of the project, “The estimated cost for these eight intersections is $217,700. I would like to think that they are on the high side; that’s the way they were on the Highway 22 project, so a portion of that for this road, about $81,000, will be out of the local roads out of our local budget, and then $136,000 will come out of our farm to market account. So we will pay for that over three years.” The construction is scheduled to begin in the 2024 construction season.
