A contractor has been selected for the expansion project at the Wellman-Scofield Public Library. Last Monday, the Wellman City Council chose Todd Hackett Construction out of Muscatine for the renovation.
The firm submitted a bid of $494,000. Library Director, Carrie Geno, tells KCII what the expansion project entails. “The library is expanding into the unoccupied portion of the municipal building on the east side. It was previously the Goodwin Senior Dining Center. We’re opening up walls and expanding into that space, so it will a little more than double the space that the previous library was in.” The work will also add study rooms, storage space, staff work areas, and improved restrooms.
The expansion project at the Wellman-Scofield Public Library begins in June, and is expected to be completed in October of this year.
