The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team added another impressive victory to their early season resume Thursday, topping Class 4A Bettendorf at Paul N. Bailey Field in Wellman 3-2. Bettendorf took a 1-0 lead with a run in the third, only for the Hawks to answer with one of their own in the fourth. Mid-Prairie took the lead with a pair in the sixth and closed down a Bulldog rally in the seventh after one tally to preserve the win. The Hawks had four total hits, all singles, one each from Karson Grout, Brock Harland, Collin Miller and Blake Swart. Swart had the lone RBI, Alex Bean, Harland and Joe Hall each scored a run. Collin Miller got the win, going six and a third, surrendering seven hits, two runs, both earned, walking one and striking out five. Carson Pence recorded the two out save. Mid-Prairie is now 3-2 as they get ready for a top ten showdown Friday with rival Williamsburg in Wellman.
