Earlier this week, local high school boys golfers competed at the 2023 Iowa High School Athletic Association State Championship meets in Ames. At Veenker Memorial Golf Course, in the Class 3A competition, Washington Junior Roman Roth won the individual State Championship. With his one under-par two-day total of 143, he bested the rest of the field by eight shots. At the Ames Golf and Country Club at the Class 1A meet, the Hillcrest Academy Ravens won the school’s first-ever Boys State Golf Championship.
