Keota Fun Days, the Sesquicentennial Celebration is less than two weeks away. Earlier this month, the city released the full schedule for the event, which will take place from Thursday, June 8 to Sunday, June 11.
Kicking things off on Founder’s Day June 8, the Keota Historical Museum will be open from 2-7 p.m. There will be a pie judging contest at City Hall, followed by a pie auction, and pie-in-the-face contest.
Friday, June 9 will feature a free swim at the Keota Pool, tours of the Elmhurst Mansion, the Kids Parade, and Street Dance.
Festivities continue into Saturday with more competitions, food venders, and live music. The Keota Youth Plus Fun Run begins the day at 8 a.m. followed by the Grand Parade at 11 a.m.
As Keota Fun Days comes to a close on Sunday, there will be a Veterans Memorial Commemoration on the west end of town at 2 p.m. followed by a group photo and ice cream social on Broadway beginning at 2:45.
President of the Keota Community Club, Lori Hammes, encourages residents of Keota, as well as guests to join in on the fun. “The thing I’m most excited about is the fact that almost all of our events aside from anything that’s fundraiser related for a specific organization is free to attend. We have things for small kids all the way up to big kids and even some adults. Once you get here, you can have a very good time in Keota and enjoy almost all the festivities.”
