Residents and area Veterans in Kalona and Richmond will have multiple opportunities to recognize Memorial Day with three services taking place on Monday, May 29. The events will be presented by the Richmond AmVets Post 107.
Services begin at the Kalona Cemetery at 10:15 a.m. There, Commander of the Richmond AmVets Post 107, Kevin Reece, will speak. Services follow with a reading of the Honored Fallen at the Richmond Catholic Cemetery at approximately 11 a.m. The Mid-Prairie High School band will be at both events, performing The National Anthem along with Stars and Stripes.
The final service will take place at the Richmond Public Cemetery around 11:30 a.m. where names of the Honored Fallen will be read. Additionally, Boy Scout Troop 234 and Cub Scout Troop 234 will be at all 3 events, placing flags on the memorials of the Fallen.
At the conclusion of the memorial services, a luncheon will be held at the Richmond AmVets, 402 Am-Vets Road in Kalona.
