In a press release on May 16, the Henry County Conservation Department announced that the South-Shore shower house and dump station will be closed until further notice.
The closure comes as a result of sanitation system issues. While county officials are looking at ways to resolve the problem, park users in Oakland Mills are encouraged to use the “Top of the Hill” shower house and bathroom or the restroom at the Virden Disk Golf area.
The Conservation Department and Board offered an additional list of alternative dump stations in the meantime, including Geode State Park, Crossroads RV Park, Lake Darling State Park, Lacey-Keosauqua State Park, Big Hollow Campground, Mac Coon Access, Jefferson County Park, Welter Recreation Area, and Marr Park.
