For the second consecutive night, an early offensive surge from the Hillcrest baseball team sent their opponents home early, as the Ravens downed Louisa-Muscatine 17-3 in five innings.

Still scoreless heading into the second inning, the Ravens put up 10 runs in the frame, each crossing the plate with two outs. The doors blew open after a Luke Schrock grand slam put Hillcrest up 7-0. Schrock recorded all four of his RBI’s with that one swing of the bat, finishing the evening 2-4.

A relentless attack from the plate also featured bases-clearing triples from Grant Bender and Rowan Miller. Bender joined Schrock with a game-high four RBI’s while Miller drove in three. Phoenix Anderson led all hitters with three base knocks, scoring twice. Hillcrest was as patient as they were aggressive, drawing nine walks, and seeing all nine starters score at least once.

Seth Ours was credited with the win, allowing just five hits and one earned run in four innings pitched. Luke Schrock handled the final three outs, closing out the Ravens’ second win of the season.

Now 2-0, Hillcrest Academy  will hit the diamond Tuesday for their home opener as they host the Pekin Panthers.
