The Lord’s Cupboard is a food pantry operating out of Fairfield. This week, they will recognize 40 years of serving Jefferson County with an anniversary celebration open to the public.

The non-profit organization began in 1982, with the goal of feeding underprivileged residents in the county. After four decades of growth and with the help of over 25 volunteers, they now serve approximately 165 households each week. Starting in June, The Lord’s Cupboard continues their LOAF program, which provides food for children during the summer.

Executive Director for the organization, Susan Frey, tells KCII what guests can expect at their 40th anniversary celebration, which will be held on Thursday, June 1. “From 4-6 p.m. we’re going to have an open house. This is a chamber-sponsored event. We’re going to first have a wonderful presentation. All of our board members will be here. We’re going to provide tours of the building, have wonderful refreshments, and answer any and all questions that people may have about our mission here at The Lord’s Cupboard.”

The Lord’s Cupboard is open from 1-3:30 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, offering extra hours on Wednesdays, staying open until 5. They are located at 303 N. Fourth Street in Fairfield.
