After a busy season of high school boys’ soccer, the Southeast Iowa Super Conference has announced their all-conference teams for 2023. That includes three area players making the first team.
Columbus Wildcat junior Fernando Erazo led the conference with 18 goals scored and has been named a first-team forward. Hillcrest Academy senior Grant Bender is a first-team selection as a defender while also contributing six goals and an assist for the Ravens. WACO junior defensive back Reece Oswald also makes the first team after helping the Warriors win four matches in the first season in school history.
Sophomore Keiran Luitjens led WACO with six goals and five assists this season and is a second-team midfielder alongside Hillcrest sophomore Mason Bender. Warriors sophomore Joel Meyer also makes the second-team defense, as does Columbus senior Daniel Martinez.
Honorable mentions for all-conference go to Bryce Bailey and Mason Helmuth of the Ravens; Julian Jimenez and Jacob Haines of the Wildcats; Colton Leichty and Raefe Davison of the Warriors; and Jared Diaz and Ayden Havel of the Highland Huskies.
