Last Thursday was National Missing Children’s Day, dedicated to encouraging parents, guardians, caregivers, and others concerned with the well-being of children to make child safety a priority. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is doing their part to ensure they have the tools to reunite missing children with their families.

The Sheriff’s Office has identification kits available at no cost for parents to complete and maintain. By filling them out, parents can collect and store specific information about their children such as fingerprints, DNA, a photograph, characteristics, and more. Should a child go missing, the kit can then be given to law enforcement to assist in their efforts to locate or identify them.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office will be partnering with Healthy Henry County Communities to do the Stride Into Summer event at East Lake Park on Sunday, June 4. From 1-4 p.m. officers will be available to assist with completing the child identification kits for anyone requesting them. Parents can also access a kit by stopping by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, or contacting them at 319-385-2712.
