The Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball and softball teams are back on the road Thursday when they travel to Wapello for a Southeast Iowa Superconference boys and girls doubleheader. The Hillcrest boys are unbeaten at 3-0 this year, knocking off Pekin, L-M and Danville by a combined 52-5 score. Hillcrest is hitting .431 collectively with 31 total hits. Luke Schrock and Seth Ours are both at .667 on the season and two of five Ravens hitting over .400 with eight total over the .300 average mark. Schrock has a team best eight RBI with eight hits and he and Ours have scored a team leading eight times. Hillcrest has a team ERA of one in 14 innings. Opponents have a .226 average with 12 hits, two earned runs four walks and 14 strikeouts. Ours, Josiah Beachy and Phoenix Anderson each have a win on the hill. Wapello is 0-4 this season, outscored 36-13 in those games, including a 5-0 Tuesday loss to Highland. The Indians are hitting .178 as a team with 13 total hits. Carson Belzer is hitting .500 with four hits, both team leading marks. Casey Short and Cooper Thomas have each driven in three. On the hill, the Wapello ERA is 5.65 in 17 innings with a .240 opponent average, 25 hits, 14 earned runs, with 18 walks and strikeouts. Matthew Helscher is 0-2 with a team leading nine innings of work and a 6.46 mark. Short has a 4.50 ERA with an 0-1 record. The Ravens have won 19 of the last 25 contests between the two teams including an 11-8 and 5-3 doubleheader sweep last season.

The Hillcrest girls are 2-1 this year after a 13-6 win over Pekin Tuesday. The Ravens have a team average at .325 with 25 hits and 26 runs scored. Delaney Shaw is at .556 this year with six runs scored and five hits, all team bests. Kylee Statler leads the Ravens with six RBI. Malia Yoder has worked all 19 innings in the circle with a .202 opponent batting average on 19 hits, 11 earned runs, 10 walks and 30 strikeouts for a 4.12 ERA. Wapello is 4-3 this year, an unbeaten 3-0 in Superconference play after a 4-1 win over Highland in Riverside Tuesday. The Arrows are .291 at the plate as a group with 27 runs on 43 hits. Tatum Wolford is hitting a blistering .688 with 11 hits, seven runs scored and four RBI, all team leading numbers. The Arrows have a 4.08 team ERA with a .178 opponent batting average, surrendering 24 hits, 21 earned runs with 23 walks and 79 punch outs. Ada Boysen has gone 33 innings giving up six earned runs, walking 12 and striking out 78, for a 1.27 ERA and 4-1 record. Wapello has won 15 straight over Hillcrest, including an 11-2 and 12-2 doubleheader sweep in 2022. Both games will be played in Wapello Thursday.
