A pair of Southeast Iowa Super Conference teams dropped inter-division baseball games Monday night. The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves were beaten 13-5 by Central Lee. After both teams scored twice in the first inning, WMU rallied from a 3-2 deficit by scoring twice more in the fourth. But Central Lee put up six runs in the fifth to seize the lead and never looked back.
Sophomore Riley Kaalberg led the Wolves with three hits, two runs scored and two runs batted in. Senior Andrew Brown also had three hits, including a double, and two RBI for Winfield-Mount Union, which drops to 2-4 overall.
Lone Tree also lost at home Monday, falling to New London 6-2. The Lions scored once in each of the first two innings to take the lead and kept the game tied at two until the sixth, when the Tigers scored three runs to go in front for good. Lone Tree’s record falls to 1-4.
