The Washington Demons were beaten in both meetings with Fort Madison on the diamond yesterday evening. Washington softball’s unbeaten start to conference play came to a close, as after scoring a run to take the lead in the first inning, the Demons allowed Fort Madison to score the next 12 runs in what ended up being a 12-3 loss.
Sophomore Alyvia Anderson had a team-high two hits for Washington, but sophomore pitchers Bella Salazar and Halle Cuddeback had a rare off night, allowing 18 hits. The Demons fall to 5-1 in the Southeast Conference and 10-6 overall.
Washington baseball lost 14-0 at home to Fort Madison in six innings last night. After the Bloodhounds scored a run in each of the first two innings, Fort Madison added four more in the third and three in the fifth to seize control. The Demons are now 3-3 in conference action and 3-8 overall ahead of visiting West Branch tonight.
