The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team bounced back Thursday in a big way, whipping the Wilton Beavers 8-2 at Paul N. Bailey Field in Wellman. The victory came on the heels of a tough road loss at Solon Tuesday, an outcome that snapped the Hawks nine game winning streak. Mid-Prairie did their work at the plate early and late, scoring once in the first, three times in the second and twice each in the fifth and sixth. Mid-Prairie out hit the Beavers 9-5 and took advantage of seven walks and a pair of Wilton errors. Alex Bean and Landry Gingerich each had a pair of hits. Bean drove in two as did Karson Grout. Cain Brown, Collin Miller and Camron Pickard each scored twice. Brady Weber collected the victory, working four innings, allowing four hits, one run, walking five and recording a strikeout. Conner Wiles threw three innings in relief. The win moves Mid-Prairie to 12-3 overall this year and they remain perfect at 8-0 in the River Valley Conference, looking ahead to a Saturday tournament at North Scott.
