The Highland Huskies kept up their winning ways of late on the softball diamond, defeating Louisa-Muscatine 6-5 Friday evening. The win was in part thanks to a big night at the plate for Abbi Stranksy. The senior infielder had a team-high three hits, including a double, and two runs batted in.
Highland senior Jessica Kraus also cranked a double in one of her two hits as the Huskies won what was at the time their fifth straight. Highland baseball also dispose of Louisa-Muscatine, scoring twice in the first inning before five runs in the fourth blew it open. The Huskies went on to win 9-1, with senior Ethan Paisley adding to his state high in strikeouts by punching out 11 in five innings pitched and only yielding two total baserunners.
Sophomore shortstop William Dunbar led the way for Highland with the bat, doubling once as part of three total hits and scoring twice. Senior Ethan Simpson and sophomore Ryker Miller had two hits each and combined to score three runs for the Huskies, who are 4-3 in conference play and 6-6 overall.
