The Washington Demons will look to continue an excellent start to conference softball this season when they visit Fairfield for a doubleheader tonight you can hear on KCII. After sweeping a doubleheader last Monday with Fort Madison that moved their record to 10-4, Washington has lost four of the last six, including splitting four games at the Jesup Tournament over the weekend.

The top of the Demon lineup continues to be potent. Freshman Leighton Salazar is now up to a .515 batting average, 14 runs batted in and a state-leading 28 runs scored. Sophomore Ella Greiner is hitting the ball hard and hitting it often, posting a .393 average with nine extra-base hits, including three home runs, and 15 RBI.

Washington will need their best to keep up a 5-1 start in the Southeast Conference. The Demons have won just once in the last four seasons against Fairfield, which comes in with a record of 6-7 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

Washington baseball also has a doubleheader at Fairfield this evening, trying to improve on a 3-8 start. You can hear every pitch of both games when the Demons and the Trojans meet on the softball diamond tonight on 106.1 FM KCII. Coverage starts with the Dino’s Pizza & Steakhouse Pregame Show at 5 o’clock.
