The Sigourney Savages continue to shine on the softball diamond, as the fifth-ranked team in Class 1A rolled past HLV 13-1 in four innings last night. A seven-run fourth inning for Sigourney took an already existing 6-0 lead and blew the game open.

Sophomore catcher Josephine Moore had a perfect night at the plate for the Savages, going three-for-three with two doubles and two runs batted in. Junior pitcher Carly Goodwin hit a home run and a double as part of a two-RBI night.

Senior Rain Barthelman and sophomore Ava Fisch had two hits and two runs scored each, while Goodwin gave up only two hits and struck out 11 in four innings pitched for Sigourney, which is still perfect in the South Iowa Cedar League and improves to 11-2 overall. The Savages play again tonight against Pleasantville.
