The Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball team endured just their second setback of the year, falling in a Monday Southeast Iowa Superconference crossover contest against New London 8-4. The Ravens broke a scoreless tie in the third with three runs, New London answered with one in the bottom half. Things stayed 3-1 to the fifth when Hillcrest added another to push the advantage to 4-1, but New London got hot late. The Tigers scored four in the fifth and three more in the sixth to erase the deficit and add insurance in securing the victory.

The Tigers out hit Hillcrest 8-5, took advantage of nine walks, and three Raven errors. Josiah Beachy took the loss for Hillcrest in relief, working one frame, allowing five hits and four runs with one strikeout. Vegas Watson got the New London win with a perfect two and two thirds out of the pen. Liam Schrock, Seth Ours, Luke Schorck, Jace Rempel and Rowan Miller had one hit apiece. Ours, Rempel and Miller all had single RBI with Ours scoring twice and Liam and Luke Schrock once each. Hillcrest is now 9-2 with a home game against Louisa-Muscatine Tuesday.
