The Midwest Old Threshers in Mt. Pleasant is a non-profit organization founded in 1950 that offers camping opportunities, hosts events and celebrations year-round, and preserves history. Thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation, that preservation can continue.

CEO of Midwest Old Threshers, Terry McWilliams, tells KCII that the grant money will be used to restore one of their historic streetcars. “We were excited that they were able to support this project. Washington County Riverboat has also supported the trolley area in the past. They helped us put in new loading and unloading platforms throughout the campground and each of those platforms has their logo stamped in the concrete. So they have been supporters in the past of our electric trolley system and obviously they are doing it again for us and we greatly appreciate it.”

Midwest Old Threshers has multiple electric streetcars that run through their campgrounds, many of them over 100 years old. As they utilize the Riverboat Foundation funds and continue their summer activities, the organization looks ahead to their biggest event of the year. The Midwest Old Threshers Reunion will be held from August 31 to September 4 this year.
