Hillcrest Academy baseball came out on top in the battle of the birds last night, defeating Louisa-Muscatine 10-0 in six to sweep the season series.

The Ravens jumped to an early lead thanks to an RBI-double in the first from Luke Schrock, who would later score. The second inning would be the only frame where Hillcrest would not plate a run, as they recorded one more in the third, a pair in the fourth and fifth, and three in the sixth to end things early. Jace Rempel had the loudest hit of the night, driving a two-run home run in the fifth on his way to a 2-3 performance.

Just one run would have been enough as Schrock tossed six shutout innings for Hillcrest. In his second start of the season, the senior fanned eight, allowing just three hits to pick up his second win. Schrock was backed up by a consistent Raven defense that saw spectacular grabs from Grant and Mason Bender.

Louisa-Muscatine threw junior pitcher Braedyn Van Auken, who allowed eight runs and struck out five in five innings of work. Van Auken recorded one of the three Falcon hits at the plate as L-M stranded six. They dropped to 6-7 overall.

Hillcrest Academy baseball earned their tenth win of the season with five more games remaining this week. The Ravens are back in action today as they host West Burlington.
