The Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball and softball teams take on Falcons for the second day in a row Wednesday, when they entertain West Burlington in a pair of Southeast Iowa Superconference crossover contests. The Raven baseball team made quick work of Louisa-Muscatine Tuesday, shutting them out 10-0 in just six innings. This year, Hillcrest has a team average of .358 with 132 runs on 111 hits. Luke Schrock leads the bats with a .568 mark including 23 runs scored and 21 hits. Rowan Miller has a team best 19 RBI. On the mound, the Raven ERA is 2.09 in 67 innings with a .198 opponent average, 48 hits, 20 earned runs 24 walks and 77 punchouts. Seth Ours is 3-0 in 14 frames with a 0.50 ERA. Luke Schrock and Rowan Miller are both unbeaten with a combined ERA under one.

West Burlington is 4-6 this year, 2-6 in the South Division of the Superconference. They were beaten yesterday 8-0 by Van Buren. They are hitting .230 as a group with 55 runs on 60 hits. Hayden Vandenberg is at .484 with 15 hits, 15 RBI and 12 runs scored, all team highs. The Falcon staff ERA is 4.85 in 65 innings with a .210 average against on 72 hits, 45 earned runs 39 walks and 39 strikeouts. Bo Begner, Brady Diewold and Vandenberg have combined on 22 innings with a sub one ERA. West Burlington has won three straight in the series and four of the last six including an 8-6 victory a year ago.

The Hillcrest girls scored a big win over New London Monday 16-6 in six frames on the road. This year, the Ravens are hitting .287 with 54 runs on 64 hits. Delany Shaw stand at a team best .417 at the plate, she and Morgyn Nafziger both have 10 hits, Malia Yoder has scored 14 times and Kylee Statler has 14 RBI. In the circle, Hillcrest has a team ERA of 8.43 in 54 innings, giving up a .209 opponent average, 75 hits, 65 earned runs, 69 walks and 67 strikeouts. Malia Yoder has 52 innings of work with a 7.86 ERA.

The West Burlington girls are 12-6 this year, 6-2 in the Superconference after dropping a 16-10 slugfest to Van Buren last night. The Falcons are hitting .406 as a team with 149 runs on 161 hits. Lauren Summers has a .614 average on 27 hits to lead the way. Madalynn Knapp has a team high 32 RBI and Anna Engberg has scored 20 times. In the circle, West Burlington has a 4.03 ERA in 82 innings with a .270 average against, giving up 89 hits, 47 earned runs, with 105 strikeouts. Summers is 12-2 in 68 innings with a 2.39. The Falcons have won the last seven in the series dating back to 2007, including a 10-0 win in their last meeting in 2021.
