The Sigourney Community School District is beginning to plan upgrades to their Elementary School building. With a tentative timeline of starting in the summer of 2024, the overall goal is to take a “no tax increase” approach.

To do this, the Sigourney CSD Board of Education approved the issuance of approximately $7.5 million in school infrastructure sales, services, and use of tax revenue bonds. Upon a review of building data, staff, and community input, the projects will include replacing the boiler with a newer, high efficiency model, upgrading the building’s electrical main service, adding HVAC ventilation for classrooms, and improving overall energy management components.

Once started, these infrastructure improvements would take between 18 and 24 months to complete and cost around $6.2 million. This district is looking at a multi-phased approach which would ideally see the construction finished for the start of the 2025-26 school year.
