Washington Demon softball came up just short against Centerville last night 4-3. Washington sophomore Ella Greiner broke up a scoreless tie by hitting her fourth home run of the season on the first pitch of the fourth inning, and the Demons added two more runs later in the frame. But Centerville scored two runs on two hits in each of the final two innings to rally for the win.

Freshman Leighton Salazar was the only player for Washington with multiple hits on the night. Demon pitcher Colbie Greiner gave up seven hits and one walk in a complete-game effort. Despite the defeat, Washington is still 14-9, and the Demons are only one game out of first place in the Southeast Conference.

Washington will look to stay in the hunt for a conference crown when they host Fairfield in their return to league play tonight. You can hear all the action between the Demons and the Trojans this evening on 106.1 FM KCII, with coverage beginning on the Dino’s Pizza & Steakhouse Pregame Show at 7 o’clock.
