Rivalry baseball and softball return to Mid-Prairie tonight when the Golden Hawks entertain the Iowa City Regina Regals. The Golden Hawk boys come into the night at 13-6 for the year, 9-1, atop the River Valley Conference after splitting a doubleheader with Regina in Iowa City Monday by 4-3 and 6-3 scores. The Hawks are ranked No. 2 in Class 2A this week by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. Mid-Prairie is hitting .283 as a team with 98 runs on 123 hits. Karson Grout has a .429 average with 21 hits and 16 runs scored, all team highs. Alex Bean has a team best 17 RBI. On the mound, the Golden Hawk team ERA is 3.02 in 113 innings with a .230 opponent average on 102 hits, with 49 earned runs, 57 walks and 126 strikeouts. Brock Harland, Collin Miller and Brady Weber are a combined 8-0 in 54 innings with a 0.75 ERA.

Iowa City Regina is 10-12 this year, 8-3 in the River Valley after dropping a 5-3 decision to Burlington Notre Dame on the road Wednesday. The Regals are hitting .264 as a group with 128 runs on 147 hits. Jack Tierney is at .417 with 30 hits and 18 driven in, all team bests. Danny Gavin has scored a team leading 23 runs. On the mound, the Regal ERA is 3.09 in 140 innings with a .219 opponent average on 126 hits, 62 runs, 80 walks and 145 strikeouts. Tierney, Hudson Koch, Tate Lynch and Will Litton are 9-3 with a combined 2.50 ERA.

The Mid-Prairie softball team is 10-8 on the season, 7-4 in the RVC after a 15-1 win at West Branch in five innings Wednesday. This year, Mid-Prairie is hitting .388 as a team, with 101 runs on 133 hits. They are led by Sophie Miller’s .545 average and 24 total hits. Brenna Jehle has a team best 17 driven in and Dakota Mitchell has scored a team high 17 times. In the circle, the Hawks have a 3.50 team ERA in 68 innings. Opponents hit .238 against them with 66 hits, 34 earned runs, 20 walks and 58 strikeouts. Sydney Knebel has worked 49 innings with a 3.14 ERA.

Iowa City Regina is 13-4 this season, 9-1 in league play after a 3-0 win at Solon Wednesday. The Regals are ranked No. 1 in Class 2A this week by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. They are the defending 2A state champs. Regina is hitting .375 as a team with 109 runs on 170 hits. Dani Laughlin has a .604 average with 29 hits, leading the team. Courtney Kessler has driven in 27 and Avery Kies has scored 22 times. The Regals have a 1.68 ERA in the circle in 100 innings with a .211 opponent average, 93 hits, 24 earned runs, 25 walks and 114 strikeouts. Ashley Webb is 6-4 in 56 innings with a 1.51 ERA.
