anderson-2

Following a win over Louisa-Muscatine Tuesday night, Hillcrest Academy baseball found themselves hosting another Falcon team yesterday afternoon as they matched up with West Burlington. For the second day in a row, the Ravens came out victorious, outlasting the Falcons 10-6.

Hillcrest took to the plate in the first already trailing by two, however the first five Ravens to step into the batters box would score to give them a lead they’d never relinquish. Jace Rempel delivered an impactful offensive performance for the second-straight game, going 2-4 with a game-high 3 RBI’s. Luke Schrock went 1-2, scoring twice and hitting his third home run of the season. His two-run shot in the sixth gave the Raven’s some cushion, as they had entered the frame up just one. Seth Ours also added a lift, crossed the plate three times to lead all Hillcrest hitters.

Phoenix Anderson made his team-high fourth start of the year, throwing six innings and striking out six. Anderson settled in after the first, allowing just four runs in his final five innings pitched to record the win. Josiah Beachy came on in the seventh to close the door for the Ravens, who move to 11-2 on the year.

Senior Jace Figuereo was the standout for West Burlington. The Falcon shortstop and leadoff hitter shined on both sides of the diamond, scoring three times on his way to a 2-4 afternoon. The top five hitters accounted for all six West Burlington runs, but were unable to find an answer in the seventh as they drop to 4-7.

Hillcrest Academy is on the road tonight, looking to sweep the season series with the Pekin Panthers. Hillcrest handled Pekin 17-2 in their first meeting back in May.
