Thanks to a donation from the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Blank Children’s Hospital, the Fairfield Police Department is giving out free bike helmets to kids.

Wearing a bike helmet reduces the risk of a serious head injury by 60 percent and cuts the chances of traumatic brain injuries in half. Bike helmets also give the user a reduced risk of fatality by 34 percent.

Anyone interested in picking up a free bike helmet for their kids this summer can stop by the Fairfield Police Department at 1200 W. Grimes Avenue or give them a call at 641-472-4146.
