The Washington Demons will look to make some headway in conference play when they host Keokuk for a baseball doubleheader tonight that you can hear on KCII. Washington was reeling from a five-game losing streak at the end of last week, with the last four losses by a combined five runs. But the Demons rallied for a 9-8 walk-off win against Fairfield Thursday to improve to 4-5 in the Southeast Conference and 4-12 overall.
Seniors Isaac Vetter and Ethan Patterson have been the Demons’ biggest offensive weapons at the top of the order. Vetter has a team-high .313 batting average, while Patterson is hitting .293 with five doubles and six runs batted in. Junior Caleb Zieglowsky has also been a threat with the bat, putting up seven of his team-high 11 RBI in conference games.
After splitting four matchups with Keokuk last season, Washington gets their first look in 2023 at a Chiefs team that is 2-7 in conference action and 5-12 overall. Demon softball also has a home doubleheader with the Chiefs this evening. You can hear all the action on the baseball diamond between Washington and Keokuk tonight on 106.1 FM KCII.
