The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team spent their weekend on the big stage, competing at the Dodger Invitational at the Harlan Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge, home of the Iowa High School Softball State Tournament. The Golden Hawks went 1-2 during their time out west. Mid-Prairie’s win was a marquee victory, beating No. 15 in Class 2A Waterloo Columbus 6-4. The Sailors jumped out to a lead with a pair of second inning runs, but Mid-Prairie struck with a big inning in the third, putting four on the board and taking a lead they wouldn’t give up the rest of the day. Waterloo Columbus came back with a tally in the bottom half to get within 4-3 and thing stayed that way until the seventh when Mid-Prairie added a pair of insurance runs to make it 6-3. The Sailors started a rally, and got one, but no more as the Hawks closed out the win.

Mid-Prairie was shut out in their other two outings in Fort Dodge, falling to No. 2 in Class 2A Central Springs and the home Dodgers by matching 9-0 scores. After the weekend, the Golden Hawks record stood at 12-10.
