On Saturday, at approximately 10:18 am, the Washington County Sheriff’s Offices responded to an active burglary in progress located at 2041 Redwood Ave. in rural Washington County. Upon arrival, a male subject, identified as 46-year-old Everette Jones of Washington, was observed in the kitchen area of the residence, placed into handcuffs, searched, and placed into the back seat of a marked patrol unit.

It was advised that a second male had fled the residence southbound on foot. This officer did deploy his dual-purpose K-9 Drako to conduct a track for the second suspect, who was found by K-9 Drako to be hiding in the weeds between two outbuildings. This subject was identified as 31-year-old Ryan Tusing of Washington. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the two subjects had used a cutting torch on an antique safe, ruining the safe and its contents; multiple items had been “staged” in the garage as well as the exterior of the residence, where it was advised that the two subjects were to return with a U-haul to obtain the staged items. Multiple additional burglary tools, of screwdrivers, saws, grinders, and knives, were observed in the two subject’s possession.

Upon further investigation of the immediate area where Jones was arrested, a methamphetamine pipe containing methamphetamine and a small, clear, plastic bag containing marijuana were observed, documented and seized. A prescription pill bottle without a label containing multiple prescription-only pills identified as Mirtazaprine was discovered as well. Jones has numerous previous controlled substance convictions, as well as Tusing.

Jones is charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony, Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony, two charges of possession of controlled substance- 3rd or subsequent offense, a Class D Felony, possession of Burglar’s tools, an aggravated misdemeanor, unlawful possession of prescription drug, a serious misdemeanor, and trespass with damage more than $300, a serious misdemeanor. Tusing is charged with criminal mischief 2nd degree, a Class D Felony, Burglary in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony, possession of Burglar’s tools, an aggravated misdemeanor, and trespass with damage more than $300, a serious misdemeanor.
