In their meeting last Monday, the Highland Community School District Board of Education granted a one-year contract extension for Superintendent Ken Crawford.

Crawford, who is entering the final year of his current three-year contract will now hold the role through the 2024-25 school year. While Highland shared with the Lone Tree Community School District when the contract began, the position has been split with WACO since 2021.

While speaking with Crawford during the school year, he told KCII, “We are doing a lot of positive things and we are trying to grow. I feel like I’m trying to grow and like I said, I’m not perfect, but at the same time you try to get better at your job, get better with the human beings you’re dealing with, get better with the students in the building. That’s what I feel like both staffs are trying to do as well. I don’t feel like we’re stagnant and I enjoy that work with them. I want to be a part of buildings that are trying to grow and trying to get better. If there’s problems, we try to solve them and move on. I hope people feel their way about their school district.”

The next year of Crawford’s contract begins July 1.
