lone-tree-3

The Lone Tree Lions came up just short in a rally attempt against Van Buren County softball Monday night. After falling behind 4-0 through the first four innings, Lone Tree tied the game with four runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth. Van Buren County scored twice in the final inning to go back in front, and while the Lions got one back in the bottom of the seventh, they could not come all the way back and fell 6-5.

Junior Lila Bell led the Lone Tree lineup with two hits, including a triple, and two runs scored, while sophomore Rylee Shield also had a triple as part of two hits and one run batted in. Vivian and Abby Zaruba had one hit and one run scored each, but the Lions still fell to 8-11. Lone Tree baseball also lost to VBC 25-2, dropping their record to 1-13.
