A pair of KCII area schools will meet on the diamond Thursday, when the Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball and softball teams entertain Highland on Senior Night in Kalona. The Hillcrest baseball team is 16-4 on the year, unbeaten 11-0, champions of the North Division of the Southeast Iowa Superconference. They were on the wrong end of a 6-5 walk off at Central Lee Wednesday. The Ravens are hitting .338 this season with 197 runs on 174 hits. Luke Schrock is at a team best .492 with 33 runs scored and 29 hits. Grant Bender leads with 27 RBI. The Hillcrest team ERA is two with a .213 opponent average on 91 hits, 33 earned runs, 41 walks and 111 strikeouts. Seth Ours, Jace Rempel, Luke Schrock and Grant Bender are a combined 9-0 with an ERA at 0.75.

Highland is 9-10 this year, 7-3 in the Superconference, second place in the North. They fell to West Burlington 4-3 Wednesday. The Huskies are hitting .244 this year with 104 runs on 104 hits. Ethan Paisley is at .352 with 19 total hits to lead the way. Tyler Thompson has a team best 15 driven in and scored. The Highland staff ERA is 3.28 with an opponent average of .213 on 97 hits, 53 earned runs, 58 walks and 151 strikeouts. Paisley and Peyton Yeggy have combined to record all of the Highland wins on the hill this season, with a total ERA of 1.75. The Ravens beat the Huskies 10-4 earlier this year, Highland had won the previous five in the series. Hillcrest will honor seniors Luke Schrock, Grant Bender, Jace Rempel and Josiah Beachy as part of tonight’s activities.

The Hillcrest softball team is 7-14 on the year, 4-8 in league play after being no-hit in a 15-0 loss at Central Lee Wednesday. The Ravens are hitting .285 as a group with 116 runs on 123 hits. Delaney Shaw’s .440 average and 22 hits lead the team. Malia Yoder has 23 runs scored and Lydia Beachy 20 RBI, both team bests. The Raven pitching staff has a 9.16 ERA with a .231 opponent average on 152 hits, 133 earned runs, 126 walks and 107 strikeouts. Yoder is 7-11 this year with a 6.64ERA.

Highland is 14-8 on the year, 8-3, third in the Superconference North, after a 3-1 Wednesday loss to West Burlington Notre Dame. The Huskies hit .310 collectively with 176 runs on 161 hits. Payton Bruns has a team leading .492 average on 31 hits and 24RBI. Lilly Barre has 35 runs scored. The Huskies have a team ERA of 3.14 with a .243 opponent average on 112 hits, 53 earned runs, 42 walks and 117 strikeouts. Jessica Kraus is 10-4 with a 2.45 ERA. Highland has won 22 straight in the series, including a 12-0 victory earlier this year.
