The final River Valley series has arrived for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams this week as they take on the Durant Wildcats. The Mid-Prairie boys renew their series with the Wildcats, which started Friday, with a wild 12-11 victory in Wellman that clinched the Hawks a share of the River Valley Conference title. Mid-Prairie is 20-6 on the year, 14-1 in the RVC, and winners of eight straight. For the year, they are hitting .301 as a team with 169 runs on 205 hits. Karson Grout has a team best .412 average on 33 hits and 24 RBI. Cain Brown has scored a team best 28 times. On the mound, the Golden Hawk club ERA is 2.97 with a .225 opponent average on 151 hits, 74 earned runs, 80 walks, and 192 strikeouts. Brock Harland, Brady Weber, Collin Miller and Landry Gingerich are a combined 13-0 with an ERA at 1.77.
Durant baseball is 13-9 on the year, 10-6 in the River Valley after their loss in Wellman Friday. For the season, they are hitting .331 as a team with 193 runs on 206 hits. Individual leaders include Conner Schwarz at .479 with 35 hits, 29 RBI and 27 runs scored. On the hill, they have a 3.35 team ERA with a .216 opponent average on 113 hits, 67 earned runs 85 walks and 143 strikeouts. Ryan Wulf, Schwarz and Colby Gast are a combined 12-5 with a 3.62 ERA. The two teams have split their last 28 overall meetings.
The Golden Hawk softball team is 12-16 overall and 9-6 in the River Valley after an 0-3 weekend at the Linn-Mar tourney where they dropped games to Iowa City High, Mount Vernon and Center Point-Urbana. The Golden Hawks are hitting .344 as a team with 142 runs on 217 hits. Sophie Miller has a .476 average with 39 hits to lead the way. Sydney Knebel has a team best 22 driven in and Dakota Mitchell has scored a club best 23 runs. In the circle, the Hawks have a team ERA of 4.04 with a .278 opponent average on 165 hits, 80 earned runs 41 walks and 101 strikeouts. Knebel has worked 94 innings with a 3.06 ERA.
Durant is 10-22 this year and 7-8 in the RVC. They have dropped seven of their last eight overall. They were at the Linn-Mar tourney as well over the weekend falling to Pleasant Valley and Northeast Goose Lake before finishing the weekend with an 8-7 victory over West Delaware. On the year, the Wildcats are hitting .234 collectively with 129 runs on 105 hits. Bailey Kraklio is the leader with a .375 average on 24 hits with 12 RBI. Isla Petersen has a team best 14 runs scored. In the circle, they have a team ERA of 4.69 with a .255 opponent average, 163 hits, 85 earned runs, 61 walks and 112 strikeouts. Allison Toft has a 5-3 record in 56 innings with a 2.36 ERA. The Wildcats have won 18 of the last 24 in the series, but the Hawks swept the doubleheader with these two last year 4-1 and 2-1. Due to storm damage at the Durant athletic complex over the weekend, the baseball doubleheader will be played at Paul N. Bailey Field in Wellman, the softball doubleheader will remain in Durant.
