Thursday, the Highland Huskies used a complete team effort to take care of Hillcrest Academy 15-3 on the road in a Southeast Iowa Superconference softball contest. The Huskies led throughout, scoring in every inning but one, including a run in each of the first two frames, a three spot in the fourth, one more in the fifth and four in the sixth to build a 10-0 lead. The Ravens broke through with a pair of runs in the bottom half to get within 10-2. The Huskies put a five spot on the board in their last at bat and the Ravens got one in the seventh to finish the night. The Huskies pounded out 14 hits, three for extra bases. Nine Highland players had at least one hit, nine scored a run and seven had an RBI. Abigail Pierson went three for five with a double and drove in three. Sarah Burton had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Adisyn Prottsman knocked in a pair and scored once. Lilly Barre and MyLei Smith each had two hits and scored twice, Barre added an RBI. Jessica Kraus scored the win for Highland in the circle, working five frames, giving up just one hit and punching out five.
The Raven bats were led by Ruth Witthoft with two hits and an RBI. Kylee Statler and Delaney Shaw each had a hit. Statler, Adrianne Blauvelt and Zoey Curtiss all scored. Malia Yoder took the loss in the circle, going five and two thirds, giving up 12 hits and five earned. After the tilt, Highland was 15-8 on the year, the Ravens 7-16.
