The Sigourney Savages wrapped another dominant softball regular season with a 16-0 victory over Pekin last night. A massive second inning where Sigourney scored 14 runs allowed the Savages to win in three frames.

Freshman shortstop Kenzi VanDenHeuvel had another big night at the plate, coming up with two doubles in her three hits and posting a whopping eight runs batted in. Senior Rain Barthelman and sophomore Ava Fisch had one hit and two RBI each while combining to score five runs.

Junior Carly Goodwin pitched three perfect innings and racked up seven strikeouts as Sigourney completes the regular season with a record of 22-4. The Savages, ranked eighth in Class 1A, have the top seed in Class 1A Region 8 and will thus not start the postseason until next Wednesday.
