The Lone Tree Lions were on the wrong end of a wild 13-10 slugfest with BGM baseball Tuesday night. Lone Tree took the initial 2-0 lead in the first inning and exploded for seven runs in the second to increase the margin to 9-1. But BGM rallied, scoring six times in the fourth to cut the deficit to a single run and taking the lead for good in the sixth. Despite scoring once more in the seventh, a rally from the Lions fell short.
Junior Ethan Bockelman led the way for the Lone Tree lineup with two doubles, a single, three runs scored and two runs batted in. Senior Matthew Hemstead, sophomore Maddox Jondle and freshman Emmett Burke each had two RBI and came up with a pair of hits.
Junior Harry Brenneman scored twice for the Lions, but allowing two home runs and 20 total hits by BGM did in Lone Tree, which ends the regular season with a record of 1-18. The Lions next face Hillcrest Academy in the Class 1A District 10 playoffs. You can hear that game starting around 7 o’clock Saturday night on 102.5 FM and AM 1380 KCII.
