The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team hits the road Thursday for a trip to Tipton and a makeup game with the Tigers. The Golden Hawks are 23-6 this year, 16-1 champions of the River Valley Conference, and winners of 11 straight after doubling up Washington 8-4 on the road Wednesday. Mid-Prairie is hitting .297 as a team this year with 193 runs on 229 hits. Karson Grout leads at .427 with 38 hits and 31 driven in. Cain Brown has scored 31 times. The Mid-Prairie staff has a 2.76 ERA with a .220 opponent average 165 hits, 77 earned runs 84 walks and 204 strikeouts. Golden Hawk starters Collin Miller, Alex Bean, Brock Harland and Brady Weber are a combined 18-1 with a 2.09 ERA.
Tipton is 7-16 this season 4-13 in the River Valley. They topped Calamus-Wheatland at home last night 11-10 to snap a 10-game skid. The Tigers hit .234 as a team with 118 runs on 127 hits. Ian Spangler is the leader at the plate with a .333 average on 19 hits. Caden Schmidt also has 19 hits and a team leading 23 runs scored. Davis Webb has driven in a team best 22. On the mound, the Tiger ERA is 6.26 with a .183 opponent average on 143 hits, 126 earned runs, 153 walks and 151 strikeouts. Webb is 3-2 with a 2.28 ERA. Mid-Prairie has won 22 of the last 30 in the series and three straight, including a doubleheader sweep of the Tigers in Wellman 3-1 and 8-6 earlier this year.
