The Highland Huskies closed the baseball regular season with a 9-5 victory Wednesday at BGM. Despite trailing 2-0 after the first inning, Highland rallied to tie the game with a pair of runs in the third. The Huskies scored four times in the sixth inning and three more in the seventh to keep the Bears at bay.

Senior Ethan Paisley had a team-high three hits for Highland, including a double, and scored three runs. Fellow senior Peyton Yeggy had one hit and one run batted in, while eighth-grader Garrett Beeson scored twice for the Huskies, who snap a three-game losing streak.

Highland concludes the regular season with a record of 11-14. The Huskies will next host New London in the first round of the Class 1A District 9 playoffs tomorrow night. Highland has lost their last five meetings with the Tigers, including a 13-5 defeat back on June 19th.

Led by Paisley’s .376 batting average and his minuscule 1.11 earned-run average on the pitcher’s mound, the Huskies will try to end a skid where they’ve lost six of their last seven games by getting a playoff win beginning at 7 o’clock tomorrow evening.
